Statement of Faith

Sojourners is a Christian ministry established to resource churches, and individuals by the means of Christian Counselling, Christian resources, and information about Christian Counsellors.

The statement of faith which Sojourners holds to are the fundamentals of the Christian Faith, we do not expect all Christian Counsellors to agree, or practice to a specific form of Christian Counselling, BUT, the statement of faith below gives the basis of a Christian worldview, which those who register with Sojourners are asked if they agree with as part of the registration process:

• The Divine Inspiration, authority, sufficiency and total inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures, the Bible.
• The Bible, is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority in all matters of belief and behaviour.
• There is one God in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
• God is sovereign in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement
• The total depravity of human nature in consequence of the Fall:
• The Incarnation of the Son of God; His work of atonement for the sin of mankind and His mediatorial intercession and reign
• The justification of the individual person (sinner) by faith alone:
• The work of regeneration and sanctification by the Holy Spirit:
• The Holy Spirit lives in all those he has regenerated. He makes them increasingly Christlike in character and behaviour and gives them power for their witness and everyday life.
• The one holy universal church is the Body of Christ, to which all true believers belong
• God's work of justice and mercy in the world, and His love towards all people.
• The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, who will return in person, to judge everyone, to execute God's judgement on those who have not repented and to receive the redeemed to eternal glory.
